Hot Takes, Get Your Hot Cakes Here

Gosh. I haven't done one of these in a while. It's exciting. I've gotten hammered the last few weeks with HOT CAKES from feeds I follow, mostly documenting the death of modern media as publications like Sports Illustrated, Pitchfork, and LA Times fold or announce large layoffs to their people.

You hear that? It's the inevitability of my job, career, and life careening off into something else as my work as a medium gets replaced with a robot. I'm already being asked to write to robots; how different is it to ask a robot to write to robots? This is what we can expect with the future of searchable media, and Google is already ahead of the curve. There's a reason we get more and more results from places like Reddit, and why even I turn to that before real-life friends. So, here are the hot takes in order, and at the bequest and approval of friends and loved ones, I've got some hot ones.

Modern Content Writing Blows

Oh, you wanted to read about why modern content writing blows? You'll have to head to my new opinion dissemination machine of choice… SubStack.

If you're already subscribed to the blog, congratulations, you're already on Substack, and you should have gotten an email. If you're not, you'll have to click the link here to get transported to this blog post on SubStack.

Why SubStack? It's simple. I want you to get better, more organized content in your inbox from various creators. SubStack appears to be where all of us blogger-types are flocking to, and I think you'll get a better blog experience from it. Please be careful about subscribing to all the 'recommended' blogs you get when signing up, as I've found they endlessly clutter my inbox with ~15 different individual newsletters. Instead, search around the site with the little search icon and type in hobbies you partake in or enjoy. Like F1 racing? There are 10 bloggers for that. Technology and SEO research? There's another 15 for that. Bike racing and podcasts? Boom. Another 5. Doom and gloom about media? You're already here, baby.

Anyway, I'll be taking a slightly different, more 'off-the-cuff' approach to my SubStack. Aka, expect more frequent but shorter postings that house individual, 5-minute-or-less short stories that cover individual topics. Most likely, I won't use Grammarly to proof my stuff. The writing will be worse.

Now, back to why modern content writing blows...
